You will need it before you begin your quest. Tell me where to send it if all above fails. This is the vital data the poly 800 needs to function. It seems, by digging through my archives, that I have the poly 800 hex bin file. Those are the juiciest bits in the korg replacement part catalog. If that doesn't fix it, keep the keyboard, filter(it'll be the chip that says 2069AD on it), and joystick out of it.

Remember that chip scene on the plane in the 1985 movie "Real Genius?" You will get to see that live. It only takes a half hour at most, and chances are your original eprom can be erased and reprogrammed, so you will not have to buy a new one. You may have to go to a college that has an electronics course. If that does not work, keep reading.ī.)see if you cant get a nice person with an eprom burner to get the poly 800 hex bin file and burn you a new eprom. Then, providing support, press the chip back in. Using a jewelers screwdriver, pry up each end of each chip until its about halfway out of its socket. That said:Ī.)Take it back apart and re-seat any socketed chips. Ebay Description: The Korg EX-800 is a desktop (48 voice polyphonic) synthesizer, featuring dual oscillators (additive square waveform, single oscillator in 8 voice mode), white noise, 24dB resonant low pass analog filter, dedicated volume and filter ADSR envelopes, LFO (routed to pitch, filter, volume), sequencer (256 event step time), chorus. That reduces the chance of power dropouts and memory flakes. #17533 - 06/29/07 06:15 PM Re: frozen poly 800 (1st revision) - help pleaseįirst off, ALWAYS keep batteries in the thing. If you needed to change batteries and not lose your presets you had to plug the thing in to keep it Weird but that is where it was with that synth. I opened the synth, it was a little dirty but I cleaned it and I cannot see anything missing or broken (I am not an electrician thoughĪnybody can tell me what might be wrong ? Could my power supply have damaged something, and why ? What can I do ? The ONLY battery backup in a Poly800 (as a former owner) is the D (or was it C) batteries in the bottom of the unit. If I turn the volume up it just makes click click click. The synth basically doesn't react to anything at all. From then on, no single button/knob would work anymore - the display either shows some weird signs or "P11" but doesn't change from there, no matter what I push.

Then, as I turned it on again, the display showed weird signs for a couple of seconds and jumped back to "P11". The Poly-800 can be powered by C-cell batteries, and these batteries are also used for program memory.

It was working fine for a couple of days (love it !!!), used it with batteries first, then started to use a power supply (not the original one but it worked fine for 2 days). The Poly-800 (1983) and Poly-800 II (1985) are 49-note 8-voice analog polysynths that feature battery operation and the ability to be strapped over the shoulder like a guitar. This model does NOT have an internal backup battery inside. It could be powered with batteries and had guitar strap pegs so that it could be worn like a guitar and played live. It was released in module form as the Korg EX-800. Just bought a poly 800 of the 1st revision. The Poly-800 is an analog synthesizer in a small all-plastic case with mini-keys and no velocity sensitivity.
